Уроки с Натаном

С 20 февраля 2021 года гимназисты принимают участие в проекте, организованном Посольством США "Lessons with Nathan Shearn".

В рамках встреч учащиеся не только узнают о культуре, истории, образовании в США, но и имеют возможность рассказать о Беларуси, развивая таким образом коммуникативную и межкультурную компетенции.

Уроки продлятся до конца учебного года и будут посвящены таким темам, как:

  • U.S. Geography. The Country of Immigrants, the metaphor of a “melting pot”. The Country of Diversity. U.S. Sights.
  • Traveling. The role tourism plays in modern life. Most popular places to visit in America.
  • Education in the U.S. The role of education and the place you study/studied (problems at school, bullying, school uniform, studying in the time of Covid-19).
  • U.S. Holidays and Traditions. American Festivals and Celebrations.
  • The American National Character. Stereotypes and reality.
  • Careers and Personal Development. Jobs in High Demand. Characterize pros and cons of your future career (special qualities to become a good specialist in a particular field, a job interview, an ideal job). The ultimate 21st century skills.
  • Outstanding People. Famous sportsmen, musicians, writers and poets, scientists, politicians, popular brands
  • U.S. Culture. Pop-culture (movies, music). Different kinds of art and the art you enjoy most. Modern Art. Music, cinema, painting, poetry, fashion.
  • Means of Communication. Social networks. Mass media which you and your family prefer. (the most popular sites for young and older generation, popular TV shows). Media literacy. How to be a good digital citizen?
  • U.S. Sports. Popular Sports. University Sports.
  • U.S. Food Industry. American Cuisine. Top must-try American foods.
  • Houses. Characterize the types of houses Americans live in. An ideal house and place for living.
  • Leisure and Hobbies. Spending Time with Friends. What makes a good movie? What is on your playlist?
  • U.S. History. Key Facts. Major Historic Events U.S. Political System. Presidential Elections. Great U.S. Leaders.
  • Environmental problems. Nature protection in the U.S. Living in the countryside/town. Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Community Service. Youth organizations and participation of young people in the social life of the country.
  • Technological Progress and Potential Future Risks. The role of science in our fast-moving world. Gadgets and devices we use.
  • American English vs British English. Conversational English. Functioning in English (requesting and giving information, small talk, agreeing/disagreeing, giving opinions etc.)
